ICCBBA was saddened to learn about the passing of our colleague, Donald Gironne. With over 17 years of dedicated service in the Americas Technical Advisory Group (ATAG), he played an instrumental role in the development of ISBT 128 data structures, ensuring the seamless flow of information within the blood transfusion community. Donald's commitment and expertise were also evident through his active participation in additional Technical Advisory Groups. Using his experience as the Senior IT Analyst at Héma-Québec in Canada, Donald provided valuable input to these groups so that the ISBT 128 Standard continued to serve the wider user community. His knowledge and passion will be greatly missed, and his commitment towards international standardization of blood labeling will continue to inspire us. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.
